The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP),

an independent organisation that issues recommendations on protection against ionizing radiation,

will hold its next meeting together with its standing Committees in North Bethesda, Maryland, USA, in October 2011.

This meeting, held only once every two years, brings together the scientists and policy makers

from around the world who are members of ICRP.

The recommendations of ICRP form the basis of radiation safety standards, regulations, policies, guidelines, programmes, and practice world-wide.
